Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion at BSRU
Bansomdejchaopraya Rajabhat University (BSRU) champions diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) across its campus, aligning with Sustainable Development Goals, particularly SDG 5 (Gender Equality) and SDG 10 (Reduced Inequalities). DEI efforts at BSRU are centrally managed by the Office of Student Affairs, which implements comprehensive policies, programs, and training aimed at fostering an environment where all students, regardless of ethnicity, religion, disability, immigration status, or gender, feel valued and supported.
Key DEI-Focused Initiatives and Services Led by the Office of Student Affairs:
Student Welfare and Accessibility Services: Through initiatives like the DSS Centre (Disability Support Services), BSRU provides tailored support to students with disabilities, ensuring accessible educational experiences and inclusive campus resources. This center offers accommodations, adaptive learning materials, and individualized support plans, fostering an environment where students with disabilities can thrive academically and socially.

Student Health and Well-being Programs: BSRU prioritizes holistic support through health and wellness programs. The Student Health Services provide healthcare access, accident insurance, and well-being programs, creating a supportive space for all students. Health promotion events organized by Student Affairs emphasize mental health awareness, helping to ensure that physical and mental well-being is accessible to everyone on campus.

Student Clubs and Activities for Cultural and Social Integration: BSRU’s Student Clubs and Organizations encourage cross-cultural understanding, unity, and active engagement among students from diverse backgrounds. These clubs offer a platform for students to explore their identities, express themselves, and connect with others in meaningful ways, fostering a more inclusive campus culture. The Social Engineering Project, for example, promotes student involvement in local development, enabling them to engage with and support the broader community, especially marginalized populations.

Financial and Career Support: The Student Loan Fund and scholarship programs administered by Student Affairs offer essential financial support to ensure equitable access to education. Career guidance services, including job readiness workshops and career counseling, further help students from all backgrounds gain the skills needed for professional success, especially those from financially disadvantaged communities.

Gender Equality and Inclusive Representation: BSRU actively promotes gender equality through its university policies and programs, which support individuals across the gender spectrum. In recent years, BSRU’s policy of allowing graduates to dress according to their gender identity at the graduation ceremony exemplifies the university’s respect for gender diversity and inclusion. The BSRU Ambassador 2024 Inspiring Change, Empowering Futures also celebrated the achievements of LGBTQIA+ students, showcasing BSRU’s commitment to creating an accepting and supportive campus environment.

Transparency and Public Accessibility of DEI Policies: BSRU’s DEI policies, including those on non-discrimination, student support, and inclusive representation, are publicly accessible through university publications and online resources. This transparency not only ensures accountability but also reflects the university’s dedication to upholding high standards of equity, respect, and social responsibility.
Through these DEI initiatives led by the Office of Student Affairs, BSRU is dedicated to creating an inclusive and equitable educational environment where all students, regardless of their background, have the opportunity to succeed and feel a sense of belonging on campus.
