In 2024, Bansomdejchaopraya Rajabhat University (BSRU) reaffirmed its dedication to advancing sustainable development and reducing social inequalities through a range of initiatives designed to enhance access to essential services. Activities such as “Sharing with Younger Generations,” the Suriya Emergency Volunteer Club, and the “Clear River” project reflect the university’s ongoing efforts to improve health, education, and quality of life within the community. Through infrastructure development and health promotion efforts, BSRU continues to foster a more inclusive society, ensuring that all individuals, particularly those in vulnerable groups, can benefit from equitable opportunities that support their overall well-being and growth.
“Sharing with Younger Generations”
Continuing its longstanding dedication to community service and sustainable development, Bansomdejchaopraya Rajabhat University (BSRU)’s Student Club is preparing for the 37th annual “Sharing with Younger Generations” project, to be held from 23 November to 8 December 2024. This year’s initiative will focus on constructing and repairing kindergarten classrooms at the Mae Fa Luang Hill Tribe Learning Center, Ban Mo Cho Village, Mae Song Subdistrict, Tha Song Yang District, Tak Province.

Located deep in the mountains and far from urban facilities, the school currently faces significant infrastructural challenges: deteriorating wooden classrooms, limited sanitation facilities, and a lack of electricity, phone signal, and basic utilities. With a budget of 500,000 baht and a 16-day construction period, the project aims to provide a safer and more supportive learning environment for local children.

The project was a collaborative effort led by the Panya Chon Khon Sang Fan Club at BSRU, demonstrating the university’s dedication to community service and social responsibility. Students and faculty came together, showcasing their genuine commitment to making a positive impact on the lives of children in the area. Through their hard work and dedication, they created a nurturing and supportive space that will foster early childhood education.

In the spirit of shared responsibility, faculty members, students, and the public are invited to contribute through monetary donations or essential supplies such as dry food, construction tools, school materials, and daily necessities. Through collective effort, the 37th “Sharing with Younger Generations” project continues to embody BSRU’s mission of uplifting remote communities through compassion, education, and sustainable action.
Suriya Emergency Volunteer Club
The Suriya Emergency Volunteer Club at Bansomdejchaopraya Rajabhat University (BSRU) plays a vital role in supporting SDG 3: Good Health and Well-being by providing emergency medical assistance, fostering health awareness, and actively participating in health-related initiatives both within and outside the university. Under the guidance of the Student Affairs Office, the club has a long-standing tradition of training students in life-saving techniques such as Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and the use of Automated External Defibrillators (AED). Its members are certified in emergency medical response through accredited courses from the National Institute for Emergency Medicine and local hospitals, ensuring they are well-prepared to respond to emergencies on campus and in the local community. Over its decade-long existence, the Suriya Club has developed a reputation for its dedication to public health and safety.
The club also actively participates in public events and collaborates with external organizations to promote health and emergency preparedness. In 2023, members took part in the SX Sustainability Expo, ASEAN’s largest sustainability event, where they engaged in activities aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), including SDG 3. By taking part in health-related exhibitions and workshops, the students learned about various aspects of health promotion and disease prevention, particularly the importance of accessible healthcare and ensuring the well-being of people of all ages.
The club’s members serve as trained first responders in the Thonburi area and nearby districts. In collaboration with local emergency response units and charitable foundations such as the Poh Teck Tung Foundation and Vichaivej Rescue Center, the club provides timely first aid assistance and emergency coordination at accident scenes. For instance, on 8 November 2024, the team responded to a late-night motorcycle accident involving a 43-year-old male victim who sustained multiple abrasions. The volunteers administered immediate first aid, coordinated with Vichaivej Rescue Center for ambulance support, and assisted in safely transferring the injured individual to the hospital. Such actions exemplify BSRU’s broader commitment to community well-being, civic engagement, and the cultivation of social responsibility among students through real-world service.

Even after returning from university outreach camps, members remain on standby to assist in emergency situations within nearby communities. On 21 October 2024, for instance, the team was contacted by the head of the Ban Somdet Mosque Community to assist a 49-year-old female patient experiencing difficulty breathing and fatigue at her home near Ban Khaek Intersection. The volunteers promptly assessed her condition, provided initial medical support, and coordinated with the Erawan Medical Center for emergency transport. The patient was later transferred to Hua Chiew Hospital with assistance from the Poh Teck Tung Foundation, Bangkok Yai 010 rescue team.

Another notable partnership is with the Poh Tek Tung Foundation, a renowned charity organization focused on emergency relief and healthcare services. The foundation, known for its extensive public welfare work across Thailand, collaborates with the Suriya Club to deliver crucial training in emergency medical care to various community groups, including motorbike taxi drivers and other public transport operators. This collaboration has expanded the reach of the club’s training programs, providing essential skills to those most likely to encounter emergency situations in their daily lives.

In these activities, the Suriya Club not only supports the immediate health and well-being of its community but also aligns its efforts with the broader goals of SDG 3, ensuring access to essential health services and promoting the prevention of accidents and diseases through education and community engagement. By equipping individuals with life-saving knowledge and skills, the club continues to embody the spirit of volunteerism and public service at BSRU.
Singh Bansadet’s “Clear River” Innovation Project: Integrating Learning with Community-Based Environmental Solutions
The Singh Bansadet initiative at Bansomdejchaopraya Rajabhat University (BSRU) recently implemented a continuing project focused on developing innovation skills through integrated learning for social impact in the Thonburi area. The project involved third-year students from the Public Administration program, under the guidance of Asst. Prof. Dr. Buranchit Kaewsreemon, course instructor for Innovation and Change Management. Working collaboratively with community leaders from Wat Thong Noppakhun, Khlong San District, Bangkok, the team designed an environmental innovation titled “Clear River.”
The Clear River innovation was developed to address the persistent problem of waste accumulation in local canals, which contributes to air pollution and deteriorating environmental conditions. The project integrates modern technology with community engagement to enhance the efficiency of waste collection, particularly in areas where manpower and resources are limited.
The installation of Clear River in the Wat Thong Noppakhun community marks an important step toward building environmentally conscious and sustainable neighborhoods. It serves as a model for reducing canal waste, improving local ecosystems and quality of life, and promoting students’ practical learning through social innovation.
The project reflects BSRU’s ongoing mission to empower students to apply academic knowledge in solving real-world community challenges, blending creativity, technology, and civic responsibility to support sustainable urban development.
