At Bansomdejchaopraya Rajabhat University (BSRU), we are committed to fostering an inclusive and equitable educational environment that welcomes individuals from all backgrounds. Our strategic initiatives align with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly emphasizing SDG 4 (Quality Education) and SDG 10 (Reduced Inequalities). We actively engage in programs and policies that not only enhance diversity within our community but also facilitate the recruitment of students, staff, and faculty from underrepresented groups. Here are some key actions we have taken:

1. Programs Highlighting Diversity and Inclusivity

BSRU Ambassador 2024: Inspiring Change, Empowering Futures: The BSRU Ambassador 2024 contest highlighted the university’s commitment to diversity and inclusion by recognizing outstanding student leaders across male, female, and LGBTQIA+ categories. This year’s winners included Anusit Mora (Art Education), Narumon Punyat (Dance and Performance), and Amarot Saechua (Dance Education). By celebrating excellence through multiple gender identities and expressions, the initiative fosters a culture of respect and empowerment, reinforcing BSRU’s role as an inclusive institution that embraces and values diversity.

Gender Expression Policy at Graduation: Our policy allowing students to dress according to their gender identity during graduation ceremonies fosters a supportive environment for individuals of diverse gender identities. Although this policy does not directly impact recruitment, it helps create an inclusive campus culture where prospective students feel their identities will be respected and affirmed.

2. Policies Supporting Underrepresented Groups

Non-Discrimination Policy: BSRU’s non-discrimination policy is fundamental in creating an equitable recruitment framework. It guarantees equal opportunities for all individuals, including those from marginalized groups, thus reducing barriers to entry. This policy attracts prospective students and employees from diverse backgrounds, fostering an environment where everyone feels valued and supported.

Our SDG-focused strategy incorporates diversity as part of our commitment to sustainable development. By welcoming individuals from underrepresented groups, BSRU cultivates a campus culture attractive to those who prioritize social equity and sustainable practices, even if these initiatives do not target recruitment directly.

3. Strategic Collaborations and Initiatives for Inclusivity

International Outreach and Inclusion of Non-Traditional Students:

Through the “Mini Conference: ASEAN+3 Cultural Learning through Daily Life” and cultural performances under the ASEAN+3 Youth Camp, BSRU strengthened academic and cultural exchange with partner universities across the ASEAN+3 region. Guided by the theme “Equality, Diversity, and Inclusivity for Sustainability Development to Future Prosperity,” the event fostered mutual understanding among students and faculty while promoting cooperation for future prosperity.

4. Community-Focused Inclusivity Initiatives

BSRU actively advances access and opportunities for underrepresented groups, especially persons with disabilities, through targeted initiatives. In line with its policy under Section 35 of the Persons with Disabilities Quality of Life Promotion Act (2007), the university provides concession spaces free of charge to enable persons with disabilities to operate businesses. On March 25, 2024, BSRU hosted the opening ceremony of such a welfare store at Building 1, 1st floor, inviting the university community to support the products. This initiative not only fosters economic participation for persons with disabilities but also strengthens BSRU’s commitment to inclusion, equity, and meaningful engagement with underrepresented groups.
