Young Herbalists Program

On April 22, 2023, BSRU hosted the “Young Herbalists” activity, which invited high school students to explore the world of herbal learning. The event, limited to 100 participants, offered free training and a certificate upon completion. This initiative not only promotes awareness of local herbs but also encourages younger generations to engage in educational activities outside of traditional classroom settings.

Cyber Awareness Training Course

BSRU is also committed to enhancing digital literacy through its “Cyber Awareness” training program. Scheduled for September 9, 2023, this free workshop is aimed at the general public and focuses on cybersecurity knowledge and practices. With limited spots available, participants can register online to gain essential skills in protecting themselves in the digital age.

Digital Skills Competency and E-Learning Courses

BSRU provides various online courses, including digital skills competency programs that cater to both university personnel and the general public. These courses, part of the U2T project, promote life skills and ensure that learning is accessible to all community members. This initiative underscores BSRU’s commitment to fostering a skilled workforce equipped to meet the demands of the modern economy.

APA 7th Edition Citation Course

In line with enhancing research capabilities, BSRU has developed an online course on citation and bibliography writing in APA 7th edition format. Available through the university’s e-learning platform, this course is open to the public, allowing individuals to improve their academic writing skills and understand the importance of proper citation.

Through these initiatives, BSRU actively supports SDG 4 by making education accessible to diverse audiences, fostering skills development, and promoting lifelong learning opportunities in the community. By providing free courses and resources, BSRU contributes to the creation of an inclusive educational environment that empowers individuals to reach their full potential.

2.Promoting Access to Campus Facilities

Bansomdejchaopraya Rajabhat University (BSRU) is committed to providing free access to its facilities and resources, aligning with SDG 4 by fostering inclusive education and lifelong learning opportunities for the community. Here are some key initiatives that exemplify this commitment:

Learning Centers and Virtual Tours

BSRU opens its doors to the public by providing access to learning resources at the Thonburi Learning Center. This facility not only welcomes visitors in person but also offers virtual tours through its website, ensuring that educational resources are available to everyone, regardless of their location.

College of Music Library

The College of Music Library at BSRU is accessible to the public, providing a valuable space for individuals interested in music studies and resources. This initiative encourages a broader audience to engage with musical education and research.

Chaohui Academy

The “Chaohui Academy,” part of the Chinese Library at BSRU, stands as the largest Chinese library in Thonburi, Bangkok. With a collection exceeding 10,000 books and various multimedia resources, it provides a rich platform for Chinese language learners and cultural enthusiasts. This library integrates borrowing, learning, and cultural experiences, making it a key educational resource for the community.

Comprehensive Library Access

BSRU’s library extends free access to students, faculty, and the general public simply by presenting a Thai ID. This initiative supports knowledge transfer to remote communities, facilitating borrowing options for physical books and providing access to a digital library. The library promotes lifelong learning through its “Human Book” project, where community members share their expertise, fostering connections between the university and the local population.

Through these initiatives, BSRU demonstrates its dedication to enhancing educational access and promoting sustainable development in line with SDG 4, ensuring that quality education is available to all members of the community.

3. Free Access to Online Resources at BSRU

Bansomdejchaopraya Rajabhat University (BSRU) champions SDG 4 through multiple initiatives that enhance free access to online educational resources, ensuring inclusive learning for diverse communities.

Digital Library:

BSRU’s library provides a comprehensive digital platform, accessible freely to all. This online library grants remote access to a wide range of publications and educational materials, breaking down geographical and financial barriers to support equitable learning. Not only does this promote SDG 4 (Quality Education) but also aligns with SDG 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities), as it encourages lifelong learning and fosters a knowledge-sharing culture within and beyond the university.

“Human Book” Project:

In collaboration with individuals from Thonburi and neighboring communities, the “Human Book” project enables community members to share their knowledge and skills as “living books.” These individuals are recorded discussing their expertise, making local insights available to a broader audience online. This project not only preserves local knowledge but also promotes meaningful connections between the community and the university, expanding learning opportunities and community engagement.

Graduate School’s Online Library:

BSRU’s Graduate School offers an online library dedicated to open-access academic articles, providing students and researchers free resources for advanced studies. This access supports independent learning and contributes to the global movement toward open educational resources.

Botanical School Project’s Creative Media:

Under the Royal Project for Plant Genetic Conservation (P.G.C.) initiated by Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn, BSRU’s Broadcasting and Streaming Media Department has produced a 2D animated film, Makieng V.1. This creative educational media raises awareness of the importance of conserving plant genetic resources. As part of the “Botanical School” program, this initiative supports national resource conservation efforts and integrates local wisdom into accessible online content. The project aligns with sustainable development and the preservation of biodiversity, making education on conservation accessible and engaging for younger audiences.

Through these initiatives, BSRU empowers the public with knowledge and emphasizes the importance of resource conservation, lifelong learning, and cultural preservation.
