In 2024, Bansomdejchaopraya Rajabhat University (BSRU) continued to strengthen its engagement with local communities and non-governmental organizations (NGOs) to advance the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Through a diverse range of initiatives, the university fostered student volunteering, research-based community development, and the creation of educational resources for underprivileged and marginalized groups. These collaborative efforts not only enhanced practical learning opportunities for students but also promoted social responsibility, cultural preservation, and inclusive education, demonstrating BSRU’s commitment to sustainable development across multiple domains.
1. Student Volunteering and NGO Collaboration for Community Health, Environmental Sustainability, and Waste Management in 2024
The Roo Rak Thin Club of BSRU conducted a comprehensive waste management campaign to promote recycling and sustainability through social media platforms such as Facebook and LINE, as well as on-campus activities. The initiative encouraged the 3Rs (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle) by collecting donations of materials including paper, plastic bottles, UHT drink cartons, and plastic bags. Students volunteered to sort, repurpose, and deliver these materials to various organizations, including community temples and local NGOs, transforming waste into meaningful contributions.

In addition to hands-on volunteering, the club evaluated the environmental impact of their activities, assessing how proper waste management could help reduce greenhouse gas emissions, thus promoting climate action (SDG 13) alongside responsible consumption (SDG 12). This initiative demonstrates student engagement in volunteering programmes that combine practical service, environmental awareness, and community collaboration.
Student Volunteering and NGO Collaboration for Community Health: First-Aid Services during the 2024 Royal Birthday Celebrations
On 28 July 2024, the Suriya Nursing Volunteer Club, in collaboration with the Student Health Division of BSRU’s Office of Student Affairs and the Ratchoros Nursing Volunteer Club from Wat Ratchoros School, organized eight first-aid teams to provide medical support and services to students, faculty, and the public attending the royal birthday celebrations of His Majesty King Vajiralongkorn along Ratchadamnoen Road, in front of the 1st Army Area.

The volunteer teams worked closely with emergency rescue teams and volunteers from Ruamkatanyu Foundation and Poh Teck Tung Foundation, offering essential first-aid services, dispensing basic medications, and supporting emergency care for attendees. The operation assisted 164 individuals, including 7 who required first-aid treatment and 157 who received basic medications. This initiative highlights student engagement in volunteering programmes, demonstrating collaboration with NGOs to promote community health and safety, while fostering civic responsibility and practical skills among students.

We sincerely thank all partners involved, including the 1st Army Area, Royal Guards Artillery Regiment, emergency teams from Phramongkutklao, Saraburi, and Kaeng Khoi Hospitals, and the dedicated volunteer teams from Ruamkatanyu Foundation, Poh Teck Tung Foundation, and all student and alumni volunteers from BSRU.
2.Enhancing SDG Impact through NGO Collaboration: Research and Cultural Development Initiatives at BSRU
Research Collaboration for Cultural Preservation and Community Empowerment: Visit Mon Community Festival 2024
From 29–30 November to 1 December 2024, Bansomdejchaopraya Rajabhat University (BSRU), through its Office of Arts and Culture, the Research and Development Institute, and university researchers, collaborated with community partners, local foundations, tourism companies, and cultural networks to organize the “Visit Mon Community Festival: Honoring Luang Pu To” at Wat Pradittharam, Thonburi, Bangkok.

The initiative focused on research-based development of local cultural and historical capital, aiming to enhance both the cultural value and economic potential of the Mon community. Researchers worked alongside community members to document traditional foods, cultural practices, and artisanal products, while facilitating academic discussions and demonstrations of Mon heritage. These research activities were integrated into the festival’s programs, including exhibitions, workshops, and cultural performances, providing a platform for knowledge co-creation between scholars and local communities.
This project exemplifies collaboration with NGOs and community networks through research programmes, contributing to sustainable development by preserving intangible cultural heritage, supporting local economic empowerment, and fostering evidence-based strategies for cultural sustainability.
Research-Based Community Development and Heritage Preservation: Nang Loeng Field Study with DLTV in 2024
On 18 October 2024, Bansomdejchaopraya Rajabhat University (BSRU) conducted a field-based research initiative through the course “Royal Initiatives for Local Development”. Led by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Rangsarn Buathong, Vice President, alongside faculty, university administrators, and students, the team visited Nang Loeng Market Community to apply social engineering approaches in studying and developing the area as a heritage and tourism site.
The project integrated research and data collection on the community’s historical sites, local culture, and tourism potential. The team also collaborated with the Distance Learning Foundation under the Royal Patronage (DLTV), which provided space and support for meetings and data gathering. This collaboration allowed students and researchers to engage in applied research, generating insights to inform sustainable local development and heritage preservation strategies. This activity exemplifies collaboration with NGOs and community organizations through research programmes, combining academic inquiry with practical community engagement to promote sustainable development and knowledge-based planning (SDGs 4, 8, and 11).

3. Collaborative Educational Initiatives with NGOs for Sustainable Development and Language Advancement
Developing Educational Resources for Underprivileged Children through NGO Collaboration: The AAR Happiness Sharing Project 2024
On 21 May 2024, the Office of Academic Affairs and Registration (AAR) of Bansomdejchaopraya Rajabhat University (BSRU) delivered donated items and school supplies collected from faculty, staff, and students through the AAR Happiness Sharing Project (2nd year) to the Baan Nokkamin Foundation. The donations were converted into tuition support and educational resources for underprivileged children, providing tangible learning assistance under the supervision of the foundation.
This initiative reflects BSRU’s commitment to social responsibility and sustainable development, following the university’s policy to uphold the UN principle of “Leave No One Behind.” It contributes to multiple Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), including SDG 1: No Poverty, SDG 10: Reducing Inequalities, SDG 12: Responsible Consumption and Production, and SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals, by enabling equitable access to education and fostering collaboration with NGOs.

Through this partnership, BSRU and the Baan Nokkamin Foundation developed educational resources for disadvantaged learners, enhancing student learning opportunities, supporting academic achievement, and promoting inclusive education. The activity demonstrates how university-NGO collaboration can strengthen educational outcomes while advancing broader social and sustainable development objectives.
Promoting Inclusive Education through Calendar Donations: Collaboration with the Foundation for the Blind in Thailand
Bansomdejchaopraya Rajabhat University’s Office of Academic Resources and Information Technology previously organized a donation campaign, “Give Us Your Old Calendars,” which collected old desk calendars to support the Foundation for the Blind in Thailand. The collected calendars were repurposed to produce Braille materials, providing visually impaired individuals with access to educational resources. This past initiative demonstrated collaboration with an NGO to develop educational resources, contributing to inclusive education and accessibility (SDG 4), while engaging students and university personnel in socially responsible action.
Student-NGO Collaboration for Inclusive Education: Charity Design Project with Youth Artists on the Autism Spectrum, 2024
Bansomdejchaopraya Rajabhat University (BSRU) celebrated the achievements of first-year Creative Graphics student, Mr. Chanakorn Pukhasap, who participated in the 2024 Model Youth Artist Exhibition for children with autism, organized in honor of the 50th anniversary of the C.C.F. Foundation. As part of the exhibition, a special charity souvenir set, including “Together” canvas bags with keychains, was co-designed by Mr. Chanakorn and other children from the C.C.F. Foundation’s Professional Youth Program. The bags, both aesthetically appealing and practical, were created to bring joy to both donors and recipients, reflecting an inclusive approach to education and creative collaboration. This project exemplifies student involvement in the development of educational and creative resources through collaboration with NGOs to support social inclusion and empowerment of children with disabilities.
